Since 1976, the Regional Medical Center (RMC) Auxiliary has awarded scholarships to students pursuing an education in healthcare. The Tree of Lights memorial fund was designated to establish and sustain the annual scholarships. For the 38th year, the Tree of Lights shines in memory of loved ones for whom donations have been made, and with hope for the future of the student scholarship applicants.

Lon Butikofer, RN, PhD, has spent the majority of his career in healthcare in the form of nursing, education, and executive leadership. On October 20, 2014, Dr. Butikofer was inducted into Northeast Iowa Community Colleges Hall of Fame based on his honors, career and community achievements, volunteerism, and dedication to the College and northeast Iowa.
