Auxiliary Fall Luncheon

Posted 11/28/2014 in Auxiliary

One hundred twelve Auxiliary members and their guests enjoyed a delicious lunch, delightful conversation, a presentation by Dr. Lon Butikofer, Chief Executive Officer, regarding the hospital expansion, followed by the Annual Meeting.

In recognition of Veterans Day, the “Stars and Stripes of Christmas” program opened with the National Anthem performed by Connie Behnken as guests joined in.

“My Name is Old Glory”, a written tribute to our flag and veterans, was then recited by Vance Knutson, SGT E5, US Army.

Jean Baus was recognized as the organization’s 1st “Bright Star.” The award is a unique opportunity to recognize and publicly acknowledge the invaluable work done by outstanding Auxiliary members and volunteers.  Jean volunteered in the Auxiliary Gift Shop and served first as Vice President in 2003 and then as President in 2004, followed by Past President for an additional year. She continued volunteering, assisting at American Red Cross Blood Drives and Delaware County Public Health Clinics. Jean’s dedication to helping at events never wavered.  Thank you Jean for everything you have done for RMC’s Auxiliary!

The Annual Meeting included the election of officers. Kay Hovey, Past President, and Barb Ogden, Tree of Lights Chairperson, will go off the Executive Board with the New Year. Officers elected for two year terms beginning in January 2015, were: President – Lou Ann Knaak; Vice President – Connie Clifton; Secretary – Linda Kerper; Treasurer – Michele Tiemens; Gift Shop Chair – Kathy Waterman; Membership Chair – Sandi Roling; Historian – Ardelle Brooks; and Tree of Lights Chair – Pat Blakesley. Joanne Kramer will serve as Past President for a term of one year.

Following the meeting, Auxilians and their guests shopped the Masquerade Jewelry $5 SALE again this year. The Masquerade Jewelry Sale is one of the Auxiliary’s biggest annual fundraisers. Thank you to everyone who came and supported this fundraiser!

New members and volunteers are needed to help grow the Auxiliary.  We invite you to join us in our mission to promote wellness in the community, serve as liaison between the hospital and the community, and conduct fundraising projects to assist the hospital in meeting its objectives. Anyone interested in joining the RMC Auxiliary or becoming a volunteer should contact one of the Executive Board members or contact Marcia Burkle, Auxiliary Coordinator, at 563-927-7491.
