RMC Auxiliary Tree of Lights

Posted 12/16/2013 in Auxiliary

Since 1976, the Regional Medical Center (RMC) Auxiliary has awarded scholarships to students pursuing an education in healthcare. The Tree of Lights memorial fund was designated to establish and sustain the annual scholarships; supporting those with the desire to dedicate themselves to a lifetime of caring for others.  The scholarship has a long history and for the 37th year, the Tree of Lights shines in memory of loved ones for whom donations have been made, and with hope for the future of the student scholarship applicants.

Donations may be made in honor of special individuals or occasions, or in memory of loved ones.  Tree of Lights donation forms are also available at the RMC Auxiliary Gift Shop, registration desks, and Regional Family Health clinics. Contributions, accompanied by the name of the individual to be remembered, may be mailed to Tree of Lights, Regional Medical Center Auxiliary, P.O. Box 359, Manchester, IA  52057.  A list of donors and the persons honored or memorialized are displayed at the Auxiliary Gift Shop.

The Auxiliary increased the number of scholarships from two to three in 2012.  Applications are open to anyone, regardless of age, race, creed, color or national origin, whose permanent address is within the Regional Medical Center service area.  RMC’s service area includes Delaware County, and portions of Clayton, Buchanan, Dubuque, Fayette, Jones, and Linn counties. Selection is based on academic record, financial need, a sincere interest in the human medical field, and participation in extracurricular and community activities.  In addition to current area high school seniors, consideration will be given to students in post-secondary education, and those currently in the workforce who have enrolled and been accepted in a human medical field of study for the 2014-2015 year.

Applications are available at Regional Medical Center’s Gift Shop, Information Desk and Emergency/Surgery Services Registration Desk, Therapy Services; High School Guidance Counselor offices at Beckman, Cascade, Central Community, East Buchanan, Edgewood Colesburg, Maquoketa Valley, Monticello, North Linn, Starmont, and West Delaware; Regional Family Health offices in Edgewood, Hopkinton, Strawberry Point, Manchester, and Winthrop.
