COVID-19 Vaccine Update

COVID-19 vaccine roll-out continues in Delaware County. As required by the Iowa Department of Public Health and the Iowa Infectious Disease Advisory Council, local health officials continue to follow the phased vaccine distribution guidelines by first vaccinating healthcare personnel and long-term care residents and staff.

Delaware County Public Health just learned today, along with the general public, that the United States Department of Health and Human Services Operation Warp Speed announced states are being asked to expand upon the vaccination priority groups. This is information we just learned today as well.

Please understand that until we receive the formalized guidelines from the State of Iowa, we are unable to vaccinate those who do not meet the current criteria of being healthcare personnel and long-term care residents.

As we know more and learn where vaccine rollout can be expanded to, as required by the state of Iowa, we will share it with the community. Thank you for your patience and understanding! It is much appreciated.

Until the COVID-19 vaccine is widely available, it is critical that Iowans continue to practice the mitigation measures to help slow the spread of the COVID-19 virus.
