Delaware County Board of Health Asks Everyone to MASK UP

Posted 10/23/2020 in Public Health

COVID-19 has made 2020 very challenging for everyone. There has not always been concrete answers about what steps to take and what to anticipate. This is because COVID-19 is a new coronavirus that has not been previously identified. It is not the same as other coronaviruses that commonly circulate among humans and cause mild illness. Learning about this new virus will take time, and we will continue to learn more in the months to come.

Right now, the best way to help reduce the spread of COVID-19 is by wearing a face mask. When you wear a face mask, you reduce the number of droplets you expel into the air during everyday activities such as talking, singing, cheering, yelling, sneezing, etc. These droplets are largely what spreads the COVID-19 virus.

Positive cases of COVID-19 continue to increase in Delaware County with the positivity rate currently at 21.8% (as of 10/23/20 at 8AM). We, the Delaware County Board of Health, ask all businesses and community members to please MASK UP to help slow the spread of COVID-19. Keeping everyone in our community safe and healthy is the ultimate goal.

Remember, the HEALTH of our community depends on the ACTIONS of our community.  Thank you for your help in the fight against COVID-19. Wear a face mask. Do it for those around you.
