Experts are now recommending women to plan their mammograms around their COVID-19 vaccine.
Due to temporary side effects of swollen lymph nodes after receiving the vaccine, experts are recommending to schedule mammograms around the COVID-19 vaccine. By doing this, it will eliminate unnecessary anxiety and additional exams.
If you have already received the COVID-19 vaccine, we recommend you schedule your mammogram 4-6 weeks after your last shot.
However, this recommendation does not include those who are experiencing urgent symptoms (such as a suspicious lump). Those with urgent symptoms need to be seen right away regardless of when the COVID-19 vaccine was received.
