Coronavirus Screening Process Implemented at RMC

Posted 2/3/2020 in Regional Medical Center

The Iowa Department of Public Health (IDPH) has recommended all healthcare facilities implement screening procedures before and at patient check-in.

Effective February 4th, Regional Medical Center (RMC) will begin this coronavirus screening procedure at all registration areas including Regional Family Health Clinics. There will be two screening questions.

  • Question 1: Do you have a fever and respiratory symptoms (e.g. cough or difficulty breathing?)
  • Question 2: Did you travel to China in the 14 days before you got sick OR did you have contact with someone with possible Coronavirus in the 14 days before you got sick?

The risk to the general public for coronavirus remains low at this time. Right now influenza is a much more significant threat to Iowans. As a reminder, remember the 3 Cs. Clean your hands frequently with soap and water. Cover coughs and sneezes with your elbow or upper arm. Contain germs by staying home when ill.
