Healthcare is an important part of the local economy. According to the 2017 American Hospital Association Annual Survey of Hospitals, provided by the Iowa Hospital Association (IHA), Iowa’s healthcare sector provides 208,594 jobs across the state.

“Regional Medical Center is proud to be the largest employer in Delaware County,” shares Charlie Button, RMC Chief Executive Officer. “We are focused on continuing to provide excellent care, close to home for all of our communities we serve. We feel our success is largely attributed to hiring the most qualified, compassionate, and caring staff.”

With the 465 employees at RMC, they by themselves spend $6,902,508 on retail sales and contribute $414,150 in state sales tax revenue. Overall, the study found that Iowa hospitals directly employ 76,203 people. As an income source, hospitals provide $4.9 billion in salaries and benefits.
