Recker

Cara L. Recker, MS, RDN, LD, CNSC, CDCES

Cara is an Iowa State University graduate who still cheers on her Cyclones and has been practicing as a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist in the clinical and outpatient settings since early 2009. Cara maintains speciality certifications in Nutrition Support (tube feedings and IV nutrition) and as a Certified Diabetes Clinician and Education Specialist. She also completed her Master’s degree from the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point in Sustainable and Resilient Food Systems in 2019, which she uses to help promote local eating and supporting the farmers growing food. 

Cara is an active member of the Iowa Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and received the Young Dietitian of the Year award in 2020 for her continued involvement and dedication to the field of dietetics. It is her passion to not only educate people on their specific nutrition needs, but also to help implement personal, practical, and sustainable life-style changes by achieving a healthy relationship with food, mind, and body while still enjoying food on a daily basis. Cara’s least favorite saying is “if it tastes good, spit it out!” 

Cara’s favorite foods are seasonal fruits and vegetables, tacos, cheese, and ice cream. She is an adventurous eater and loves trying new recipes. Outside of work she is a busy mama to 4, enjoys gardening with her husband, boating, hiking, traveling, and spending time with family and friends. 

Cara joined Regional Medical Center in 2010.

 Abigail Carper MPP, RD, LD

Abbie obtained her Bachelors of Science in Dietetics from Iowa State University in 2013 and earned her Master of Professional Practice in Dietetics in 2020. Abbie primarily works with the RMC's inpatient population along with cardiac rehabilitation. She also enjoys counseling outpatients and providing education through various community opportunities. 

Abbie loves to be active outdoors whether it be fishing, hiking, swimming, or skiing. She also loves a good book under a warm blanket in the comfort of her home. Outside of work, she keeps busy with her two young children, supporting her husband in the school district and working in the family garden. Abbie’s favorite foods are pizza, chicken, stuffing, and anything chocolate!

Abbie joined Regional Medical Center in 2016.

Kristen Simon-Frank, RD, LD

Kristen graduated from Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota with a degree in Food and Nutrition and completed a year’s internship at the University of Minnesota Hospital. She has been self-employed as a consultant dietitian for long term care facilities and group homes. Kristen is an active member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.

Kristen joined Regional Medical Center in 2014.
