November 30, 2022 in News, Public Health

Unfortunately, more and more lives are being touched by suicide. Anyone can learn steps to help prevent suicide.

Delaware County Public Health (DCPH) is hosting a FREE Suicide Prevention QPR Training on Tuesday, February 7, 2023. The training sessions will be held at Regional Medical Center in Manchester in the Veterans Education Center (Level 3). Anyone age 12 and older is welcome to attend. Training session options include 7:30-9:30AM or 5:30-7:30PM.

Attendees will learn how to “QPR”--Question, Persuade and Refer someone who may be suicidal. This training is the most widely taught gatekeeper training in the world. Ryan Nesbit, training instructor, is the co-director of Alive and Running Iowa and has done nearly 350 suicide prevention trainings. He will share his own stories of suicide, loss and suicidal intention. Plan for an interactive learning session, lasting about 1.5-2 hours. The training will be a combination of presentation, question and answers, and discussion points.

Pre-registration is required. Please register online for this FREE training at https://bit.ly/3Eu6W1C or call DCPH at 563-927-7551.
