Blood Supplier and Blood Drives FAQ
Learn about Regional Medical Center’s Blood Supplier and Blood Drives.
LifeServe Blood Supplier
LifeServe Blood Center is a non-profit, community-based blood center that has served the needs of local hospitals and patients in our regions since 1947. As one of the 15 largest blood centers in the country, LifeServe provides blood and blood products to 170 hospitals primarily in Iowa, Nebraska and South Dakota. LifeServe is committed to saving lives by providing premier service to volunteer blood donors and access to a safe, quality blood supply for hospitals and patients.
As a community-based blood center, LifeServe Blood Center only collects blood products (hosts blood drives) in areas where they serve the local hospital (like RMC).
LifeServe is not affiliated with the American Red Cross or for-profit plasma centers.
LifeServe is not a new supplier for RMC. RMC has worked with LifeServe for several years and been very pleased with their responsiveness to our blood supply needs.
RMC will transition to LifeServe Blood Center as our primary blood supplier for blood products and services on July 1, 2024. As a regionally based community blood center, LifeServe can provide quick access to blood products. This ensures the best possible patient care and a safe and stable blood supply.
Blood Drives
As our primary supplier of blood supply needs, LifeServe will host all blood drives held at RMC. LifeServe is a community-based blood center and all blood that is donated through them remains in the community. What this means is that when you donate blood at a LifeServe blood drive, your blood stays within our local region versus traveling nationwide, helping to save lives in our local neighborhoods and communities. The success and strength of our community blood supply is dependent on local donors and support.
Your donation with LifeServe will help save your neighbor, a friend or family member or a stranger on the street. YOU make a difference in YOUR community. LifeServe has multiple mobile drives near you.
