August 3, 2023 in Family Practice, News, Public Health

This August during National Immunization Month, Delaware County Public Health encourages all Iowans of all ages to protect themselves against vaccine-preventable diseases. The pandemic affected everyone in a variety of ways, including individuals attending routine healthcare appointments and receiving routine immunizations

“Now is the time to look to your trusted healthcare provider to see what vaccinations are recommended for you and your family,” shares Krystle DeShaw, Delaware County Public Health Supervisor. “Vaccines are here to help you stay healthy and prevent serious diseases like measles, pertussis (whooping cough), shingles and more.”

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), among children born from 1994-2021, vaccinations will prevent an estimated 472 million illnesses, over one million deaths and 29.8 million hospitalizations.
