Car Seat Safety

September 18, 2023 in News, Parent Education & Support

Regional Medical Center (RMC) Parents as Teachers (PAT) recognizes Child Passenger Safety Week (September 17-23, 2023) and is dedicated to educating parents and caregivers about the importance of correctly choosing, installing and using car seats, booster seats and seat belts.

Life can get hectic, but taking the time to double and triple check your child’s car seat is worth every second. Your child(ren)s age will determine the correct seat and installation.

“This task can seem minimal as life gets busy, but ensuring your little ones are safe within a vehicle is very important,” said Keri Tauke, Child Passenger Safety Technician. “Myself and the PAT team are a great resource if you would like us to help with car seat installation or if you have any questions regarding car seat safety.”

You can access the many free, online resources available including the following:

  • Car Seat Types: Determine whether your child fits best in a rear-facing car seat, forward-facing car seat, booster seat or seat belt.
  • Car Seat Recommendations: Review the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s (NHTSA) recommendations for the best car seat for your child’s age and size.
  • Find and Compare: Find and compare car seats with NHTSA’s handy car seat finder, which also searches specific brands.
