New Therapy Dog Welcomed at RMC

November 30, 2023 in News, Regional Medical Center

A new friendly face will now be visiting the halls of Regional Medical Center (RMC) in Manchester. Jo Schreck, volunteer therapy dog handler, introduced a new friend to patients, visitors and staff on Wednesday, November 29th. Hector, a golden doodle, is a Certified Therapy Dog that will continue to visit RMC to provide comfort and enjoyment to anyone who meets him.

During their visits, Hector is restrained on a leash and supervised by the handler at all times. Pet therapy can have a positive effect on patients as they are coping with health issues. Potential benefits include reduction in areas of pain, stress, fatigue and depression. Pet therapy is a free and optional service for inpatients at the hospital.

“I think Pet Therapy visits frequently change a person’s day in an upbeat, positive way,” shared Jo Schreck, volunteer therapy dog handler.
