Regional Medical Center (RMC) has marked another joyful milestone with the birth of the very first baby delivered in the new surgery addition.
Local Manchester residents Austin and Kortni Mensen welcomed their baby boy, Oliver Patrick, following a rapid-response emergency C-section, officially making Oliver the first newborn delivered in the hospital’s new surgery addition.
“The team took complete control and kept us informed every step of the way. We were never left in the dark,” shared Austin. “Even when things got hectic, we were constantly informed and reassured. From a traditional birth to an emergency C-section, they made sure we always knew what was happening.” Kortni echoed that sentiment, noting the trust and comfort built with the nursing staff. “They were all amazing and took a very scary situation and turned it into a really good experience,” added Kortni.
Following the successful birth, the Mensens were transferred to RMC’s Obstetric (OB) Department for recovery, where the staff presented the family with a gift basket to mark their role in hospital history and welcome the newborn into the community.
“Our top priority is ensuring families feel safe and supported, and it is incredibly reassuring to know our patients have access to such exceptional care in this advanced new surgical space," stated Angel Martin, RMC Interim Obstetric & Family Health Manager.
