(563) About Parents as Teachers
We provide support and education, through this voluntary, free program, to foster children’s language, intellectual, social and motor skill development. Our program is sponsored by Regional Medical Center, Building Directions for Families and the Prevent Child Abuse Iowa program.
Parents as Teachers is a parent education program designed to give children the best start in life, based on the philosophy that parents are their first and most influential teachers. Regional Medical Center is an affiliate organization, offering these home visiting service models to all families, in Delaware County for prenatal to kindergarten ages.
Our program has earned the Iowa Family Support Credential, a distinctive award that is presented to those programs that are validated through an external evaluation. This certification confirms that our parent educators are providing high quality services that result in positive outcomes for young children and their families.
