Medicare and healthcare coverage can be challenging
The Senior Health Insurance Information Program (SHIIP) is a statewide initiative that helps individuals eligible for Medicare evaluate and better understand coverage options.
RMC is happy to provide a trained volunteer counselor to guide you through the process.
SHIIP Counselors
SHIIP counselors are local volunteers who meet with those who need help finding their way through the maze of possibilities. They compare your health needs against Medicare’s policy options to find the best plan(s). This helps beneficiaries make informed decisions about their insurance coverage. Counselors can investigate Medicare denials to help determine if an appeal is needed and offer assistance in that process.
- You do not need to wait until an open enrollment period to begin thinking about Medicare coverage.
- SHIIP volunteers are available by appointment year-round.
- Their service is 100% free.
