The administrative oversight of our providers is carried out by our medical staff leadership group.

Jill Buschmann, ARNP
nurse practitioner / physician assistant lead
Jill Buschmann attended St. Luke’s School of Practical Nursing in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, graduating in 1974. She attended Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids for an Associate Degree in nursing, graduating in 1990. Jill received her BSN and MSN from Graceland College in Independence, Missouri, graduating in 1998 with her BSN and 1999 with her ARNP. Jill is a Board Certified Nurse Practitioner. Jill joined Regional Medical Center Medical Staff in February of 2002.

Scot Christiansen, MD
inpatient services medical director / wound clinic medical director
Dr. Christiansen obtained his medical degree from the University of Iowa in Iowa City, in 1989. He completed his Family Practice Residency Program in Wausau, Wisconsin in 1992. Dr. Christiansen is Board Certified in Family Medicine. His scope of practice includes family medicine, obstetrics, and wound management. Dr. Christiansen joined Regional Medical Center Medical Staff in August of 1992.

Timothy Gerst, MD
family practice medical director / chief of staff
Dr. Gerst obtained his medical degree from the University of Iowa College of Medicine in Iowa City, Iowa in 2003 and received his Masters in Healthcare Management at Indiana University of South Bend, Indiana in 2007. He completed his residency in family practice at Memorial Hospital in South Bend, Indiana in 2007. Dr. Gerst is Board Certified in Family Medicine. His scope of practice includes family medicine and obstetrics. Dr. Gerst joined Regional Medical Center Medical Staff in August of 2007.

Craig Thompson, DO, FAAFP
emergency services medical director
Dr. Thompson obtained his D.O. from the College of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery in Des Moines, Iowa in 1978. His internship was completed at Des Moines General. Dr. Thompson is Board Certified in Family Medicine, is a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Practice, and holds a certification in Geriatrics. Dr. Thompson joined Regional Medical Center Medical Staff in September of 1979.
